This is to clarify the use of propane fire rings/burners that are currently permitted for use on your property at Causey Estates. All burners can only be used in an approved fire pit area on your lot. Pit inspections were conducted during workday on Saturday, and you should have received a green paper from the inspection. If you did not, or if you have questions, please let us know.
Propane burners can be placed on level ground and at ground level. If your regular wood burning fire pit is the regulation 18 inches deep, you are welcome to raise your pit to ground level with cinder blocks or other non-combustible materials such as gravel or dirt. You must ensure that noncombustible items will be placed in or on the propane burner.
As a reminder, these types of fires are only permissible if they are within proximity of a hose (not a bucket) hooked up to a pressurized water system, and they may not be left unattended at any time.
I understand that marshmallows may be used and occasionally catch on fire. This is one reason why your regular pit area must pass inspection prior to using it for a propane fire ring. Marshmallows and other food items are obviously approved, but the burning of anything else like wrappers, paper plates, napkins, etc. is not permitted. We are in extreme fire conditions and one small mistake could result in a lifetime of consequences for all of us.
Just so each of you know, if the Governor and/or Weber County moves us to Stage 2 fire restrictions, we will not be able to use the propane fire burners. I hope this does not happen.  Your Board will keep you updated as new information is provided.
